Manitoba Homecoming 2010
Manitoba Homecoming 2010 is a year long celebration that will be bringing past and present Manitobans, visitors, family and friends together for events, festivals and an all around great celebration. Morden Town Council decided to support this initiative and agreed that the Town of Morden would be an 'Official Homecoming Site'. What does this mean to Morden?
CELEBRATE MANITOBA DAY - MAY 12TH, 2010 - BIRTHDAY BASH
Morden was one of five finalists in the bid to host Manitoba’s 140th birthday party. We were selected and awarded $5000 to host a local celebration. Mark your calendars for May 12, 2010! There will be a big party in downtown Morden. The Corn & Apple Festival Stage will feature local entertainment, and the day will revolve around Manitoba talent with food, entertainment, craft tables, face painting, and much more. Everyone is invited.
WORLD'S LARGEST SOCIAL - MAY 15TH, 2010
Want to be part of a world record? The Manitoba Homecoming initiative is encouraging all Manitoba communities to host a social on May 15, 2010. Morden will be doing its part to make this happen by hosting two socials at the Community Centre!
SOCIAL ONE: This social will feature a band called 'After Eight' in the Community Hall. They specialize in Old-Time music. More information to come.
SOCIAL TWO: This social will feature a band called Skavenja in the West Arena. From their homebase on the Canadian Prairies the band tours worldwide performing their trademark mix of SKA, Reggae and Soul music to sell out shows. For more information check out their website at www.skavenjah.com
TICKETS: Tickets are available through TICKETMASTER.
With two different styles of music and dancing, we hope to appeal to a good variety of people. The socials will take place from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am. Tickets available from ticketmaster - so get your dancing shoes ready! Watch this page for further details.
