Taxes & Assessment

Property and Business assessments are determined on an annual basis. The values are determined by the assessment branch and are based on market values for the most part with the exception of some types of commercial property, which may be valued by different methods. If you disagree with the value of the assessment, you can appeal your assessment, which is included on your assessment notice. The amount of the annual taxes on the tax notice or municipal services received cannot be appealed.

When reviewing your assessment the first step is to compare your assessment to other similar properties. If you have any questions regarding your assessment, you can contact the assessment branch for clarification.
