Weed Control
The Community Services Department is responsible for weed control. The first method of control is a mowing/weed-eating program. When this program has proven to be ineffective, the Town may employ a licensed contractor to carry out a herbicide spraying program.
The Town is committed to ensuring that, when required, environmentally friendly products only will be applied in areas frequented by the public, such as parks, pathways, boulevards, and sports fields. More aggressive herbicide use is restricted to industrial areas only.
Ongoing research of improved products continues by the Town of Morden Parks Manager, and introduction of these products will be incorporated whenever possible.
All aspects of the weed control program is carried out within the annual operating budget. In the event of budgetary restrictions, the first aspect of this program to be affected will be the herbicide spraying program, followed by the mowing program.
The Town of Morden Policy CS-001 covers all the aspects of Weed Control. For the full copy of this Policy click here.
