PUBLIC NOTICE - November 7th, 2011
The Overnight Parking Ban takes effect upon the first snowfall of the season and remains in effect until further notice. (Spring)
OVERNIGHT PARKING BAN
Please do not park on the streets. This will assist in the snow clearing operation. If you do park on the street you may get a parking ticket OR your car will be surrounded by snow. Each year the "Overnight Parking Ban" takes effect on the first snowfall and everyone is asked not to park on the streets between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 8:00 AM.
Leaving your vehicle on the street will leave you subject to a fine of $20.00 and/or having your vehicle towed away. Citizens are also reminded that the portion of your driveway within the boulevard area is NOT considered a 'safe zone' for parking. Vehicles left in this area may impede with snow clearing as well as cause a safety issue for others by impairing visibility. A vehicle left within the boulevard section of the driveway may also be subject to a fine and/or being towed away.
What You Can Do To Help?
When the snow comes as it does every winter, the aim of the Morden Public Works Department is to have the whole Town cleared as quickly as possible. To do this they need your help. There are a few things that everyone can do to help speed up the process. They are;

What is the Snow Removal Procedure?
Everyone seems to want to know when their section of Town will be cleared. There is a basic procedure that the team follows;
-
Main thoroughfares are cleared first, such as Stephen Street, North & South Railway, Downtown business section and main collector streets such as Wardrop Street, and Gilmour Street. The Provincial Highways department clears Thornhill Street and Mountain Street. (#432)
-
Streets going North/South are then done starting at the East side of Town. Public Works strive to open all the streets in the most time efficient manner possible.
-
Main school sidewalks are done immediately after street plowing.
-
Windrowing and hauling of business sections are done after initial plowing has been done.
-
Fire hydrants are cleared later as time permits.
-
After plowing is done salt sand is applied on all intersections. Clean-up of cul-de-sacs, intersections and other areas are done as time permits. Patience by all is appreciated.
