SERC 2011 Reception Centre
Request for Morden Emergency Reception Centre VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer Form
The Southern Emergency Response Committee (SERC) is responsible for emergency preparedness and response activities in the Winkler/Morden/Stanley region. During a large scale emergency SERC operates the regional Emergency Operations Centre and the regional Emergency Reception Centre.
As a result of this spring’s flood forecasts for Southern Manitoba, SERC has made preparations to open an Emergency Reception Centre which will be located in the Access Event Centre in Morden, Manitoba.
The Emergency Reception Centre in Morden will be available to people who have been relocated due to flooding or are subject to an evacuation order. They will be able to register for benefits and seek emergency shelter if necessary.
SERC will be partnering with the Canadian Red Cross and others to operate this Emergency Reception Centre and therefore we are seeking volunteers who are willing to help in a variety of positions at the Access Event Centre. These positions include greeters, registration clerks, activities coordinators, housekeeping, overnight watch, and errand runners.
Volunteers may choose to work day, evening, or overnight shifts. It is anticipated that the reception centre will be open from mid April to the end of May, if required.
Anyone wishing to help can obtain a short application form from any of the Winkler, Morden, or Stanley municipal offices. Applicants may also send a brief email to the following address and a short application form will be sent in response:
