By-Law Enforcement

The Community Services Department is responsible for the enforcement of By-Laws, Policies and Provincial regulations. The By-Law Officer deals with the following examples;

Town of Morden By-laws such as,

Animal Control, Business Licenses, Placement of Garage Sale Signs, Noise caused by animals under Section 3(a) of Noise Control By-law, Obstructions on Town Property, Education of public regarding Model Vehicles and Aircraft By-law, Nuisances, Derelict and Unsightly Property, and Traffic not related to the Highway Traffic Act

Town of Morden Policies such as,

Weed Control Policy, Tree Control Policy, and Delivery of Tax Notices under Section 4 of Tax Sale Policy

Public Notice is hereby given that the following regulations are governed by By-laws of the Town of Morden.

By-law No. 20-94
Provides for regulation of the placement of Garage Sale Signs within the limits of the Town of Morden.

The Town of Morden provides a garage sale sign and bulletin board located on the site of the Morden Tourist Booth - 530 Thornhill Street.

The property owner conducting the garage sale can obtain the official 'Garage Sale' Notice at the Town Office - 195 Stephen Street or the Morden Tourist Booth - 530 Thornhill Street and place the sign on the bulletin board on the Tuesday the week of the designated date for the Garage Sale. The property owner shall be allowed to place one garage sale sign on their property or on the Town boulevard fronting or flanking their property on the day immediately preceding and the day of the garage sale.

No person shall suspend, fasten or place any poster, banner or device advertising a garage sale on or over a street or upon a structure, utility pole, traffic control device, tree or vehicle in a street.

By-law No. 23-05
Provides for the regulation and Control of Animals within the corporate limits of the Town of Morden.

The Town of Morden requires that all dog/cat owners are responsible for the regulation of their own pet(s).  The maximum allowed is 2 of each. Please follow the regulations that provide safety, health and protection of property and people in the Town of Morden.

  • All dogs must be licensed.
  • They are not allowed to run at large or trespass on public property.
  • They must be contained on your yard.
  • They are not allowed to disturb the peace by barking or howling.
  • They must be leashed when walking/exercising.
  • Please pick up waste if your animal has defecated on public property and dispose of same.

By-law No. 12-94
Provides for the regulation and prohibiting of Open Fires within the corporate limits of the Town of Morden.

All open fires for the burning of leaves, straw, stubble, garden and other refuse, whether on the surface of the ground, in pits, barrels or other containers/incinerators be prohibited.

Campfires and pit barbecues (clean wood only) are permitted between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 Midnight when attended by an adult, provided the operation thereof does not create a nuisance.  When unattended they must be completely extinguished. Camp fires or pit barbecues must be located a safe distance from any building or other combustible material.

ANY ONE WHO BREACHES ANY PROVISIONS OF THESE BY-LAWS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A FINE
