Boulevard Trees

DO'S, DON'TS, AND REMINDERS

The trees on Morden's boulevards are for everyone's enjoyment and benefit, and everyone can assist in their establishment, maintenance, care and protection. No one person or property owner has the right to arbitrarily make decisions concerning these trees regardless of their location. The following are some DO'S and DON'TS concerning boulevard trees:

Do Don't
WATER NEWLY PLANTED TREES Watering will enhance a new tree's chances for survival. PRUNE BOULEVARD TREES
If trees require pruning, contact the Parks Office at 822-5352, who will evaluate the situation and take necessary action as soon as possible.
REPORT ALL DAMAGE
Repairs can only be made if the proper authorities are notified, regardless of cause.
REMOVE BOULEVARD TREES
Contact the Parks Office at 822-5352 , and provide details of your reasons for the removal request.
REPORT DISEASE & INSECT DAMAGE
If these problems are suspected, contact the Parks Office at 822-5352.
ACCIDENTLY DAMAGE BOULEVARD TREES
Lawnmowers, bicycles, etc., when repeatedly contacting trees can cause substantial damage and even death.
REPORT VANDALISM AND VEHICLE DAMAGE
Supply names and license numbers to police when possible.
PLANT TREES ON TOWN BOULEVARDS
Private planting can be arranged, but must conform to Town guidelines, and must be approved by the Community Services Department.
ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF YOUR TREES

The above "Don'ts" are prohibited by specific Town of Morden by-law (CS-004) and Provincial Acts and Regulations, which carry specific penalties for violators. Observance of these few simple rules will go a long way to improving and maintaining the condition of Morden's tree population and beautifying Morden's boulevards.

TREES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY interfering with public right-of-ways are the responsibility of the property owner. If you are aware of, or bothered by, such trees, report their locations to the Parks Office at 822-5352. *** REMINDERS ***

* Elm firewood, regardless of its source, is prohibited by law. Anyone in possession of it should dispose of it immediately.

* Pruning of American elm trees is prohibited between April 1st and July 31st and pruning of Siberian elm is prohibited between April 1st and June 30th.

FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE REGULATIONS COULD RESULT IN PROSECUTION
