Lake & Campground
Boating
Lake Minnewasta is a small lake that is enjoyed by many people with different interests. Boating is a privilege, and operators should be skilled and knowledgeable in their operation. In return for the privilege of boating on this lake, it is expected that you will comply with the following rules and regulations.
Wake Times
- Only fishing and non-motorized boats are allowed before noon and after 8:00 pm.
- Tuesday and Thursday are also no wake days after 6:00 pm.
Gate Times
- Control gates to boat launch areas will be closed at 11:00 pm and will open at 6:00 am.
- Control gates may be closed at the discretion of the Lake management to control access for maintenance, security or conditions that threaten water quality or public safety.
Boating Rules & Regulations
- A maximum of six ski/power boats are encouraged to be on the lake at one time.
- Jet powered boats are considered to be in the same category as the 45+ horsepower boats.
- Please be advised that any instances of careless boating will not be tolerated and will be reported to the RCMP.
- Keep Lake Minnewasta safe for all users by being an intelligent, courteous and responsible boater.
- Any concerns about the boating rules may be directed to the Morden Community Services Department by a written letter of concern.
- Boating is allowed as per the boat route. See map below.
- Please stay to the left of the buoys that mark the boat launch area.
All boats using the lake facility must be registered at the gate and must display a valid pass on their trailer, whether it be a daily or season pass. Those using the boat launch before the front gate is open or after the gate is closed are encouraged to buy a season pass or buy a pass at the beach office. As an operator of a boat you are responsible for yourself, your boat, your guests and the boats around you. Remember - power boats yield to smaller vessels.
Boat Route Map
Lake Minnewasta is a small lake approximately 1/2 kilometre wide by 3 kilometres long. There are two areas at either end of Lake Minnewasta that are restricted to motorized boats, the beach area and the back of the lake. Restricting the area at the back of the lake enables the vegetation that fish use to spawn, to mature, as well as improves the water quality.
