Morden’s Spray Park Hours Reduced

Having asked the residents to conserve water, the Town of Morden is also taking steps to reduce its water usage.

The Morden Aquatic Spray Park hours have been reduced from 12 hours a day (9:00 am – 9:00 pm) to 10 hours a day (10:00 am – 8:00 pm).  This reduction will reduce the amount of water used by the park and help the overall system.  The new hours started on July 17th, 2012 and will continue for the rest of the summer.

Having one water tower taken out of service, we all need to help conserve water to make sure the water reserves are kept high enough to accommodate the emergency requirements for fire fighting.  This is a temporary situation until a new water storage facility is in place.

“The old wading pool was open for 7 hours a day, even at these reduced hours the Spray Park is still open longer. Although there is reduced staffing and chemical costs to a spray park, the amount of water used is considerably higher. We are trying to do our part in reducing water usage but still provide a way to cool off on the hot summer days.   Your understanding is most appreciated,” said Clare Agnew – Director of Community Services.

Another way for the Town to reduce water use is at the ball diamonds. Buhler Diamond has a sprinkler system that is on a timer from 11:00 pm – 7:30 am, watering different sections of the diamond throughout the night.  This watering has been changed to run every second night.

Areas where new grass has been planted this summer will still be watered in order to ensure it establishes properly.
