Diamond Jubilee Award For Another Mordenite

Morden resident Norma Wood will be presented with a Diamond Jubilee Award at the Council Meeting held on January 28th, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers at the Morden Civic Centre.

Why Norma Wood?

Recipient of the Morden Area Foundation ‘Citizen of the Year’ Award in 2006, Mrs. Wood has been an integral part of the Morden Achievers 4-H Club for over 30 years.  She has served as Head Leader since 1986.  She also holds a position on the Area Council as secretary.  Through her involvement she has touched the lives of hundreds of children through instilling the ‘Learn to Do by Doing’ philosophy.  So much so that many of the children she works with today are the children of those she first taught.  She also enjoys learning from the children, as they have taught her how to email and text.  Norma volunteers annually for the Morden Corn & Apple Festival and summer Farmers Market.  Her dedication to the community and the youth of the community is admirable.

Council is very pleased that there is another Morden recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award.  This award is a commemorative medal which was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. Over 60,000 deserving Canadians will be recognized.
