Lake Minnewasta Recreation Area is a four-season facility that originated with the damming of the Dead Horse Creek and comes as a pleasant surprise to visitors to the area.  This recreation area offers a full-service campground, swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter months. The lake is approximately 1/2 kilometre wide by 3 kilometres long.

Location:  1 mile west of Morden on Hwy #3 & 1/2 mile south on PTH #434.

Gate House Hours:

  • Open June: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Open June 30 to August 27 – daily 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Campground Office/Store: The staff at the campground office will help you with check-in (any time after 2 pm.) and check-out (by 11 am).  You can also buy ice, treats and firewood.

Camping: There are a total of 336 sites within the Lake Minnewasta Recreation Area. They are split into five parks. More information and reservations.

Services: We offer bathroom and shower facilities, as well as a free sewer dump.

Campfires: Most sites have fire rings.  Firewood can be purchased at the Campground Office.

Fishing: Cast a line and catch a big one! Pickerel, Jack/Northern  Pike and Black Crappy all call Lake Minnewatsa home.  Fishing licence required. More info.

Boating: View our Boating Guide. All operators of motorized and non-motorized water craft must follow the Lake Minnewasta Boating and Watercraft procedure (CS-014 Lake Minnewasta Boating and Watercraft Procedure 20131012) to ensure their own safety and the safe and pleasant boating experiences of other lake users. Walking & Cycling: Stroll, run, or cycle the beautiful Kinsmen Footpath and Minnewasta Trail. Trail Map. More info.

Golfing: Enjoy a challenging game of golf at the nearby 18 hole Minnewasta Golf and Country Club.
