Morden Demographic Characteristics
The Town of Morden has had positive growth rates across all the demographic categories since 1986, as demonstrated by the following:
- The population of the pre-school (0 to 4) age group increased by 10 percent between 1986 and 2006.
- The elementary/junior high school (5 to 14) age group profile increased from 735 people in 1986 to 900 people in 2006, constituting a 22% population increase over this twenty-year period (an average of 1.1 % growth rate per annum).
- The secondary school (15 – 19) age group profile increased from 350 people in 1986 to 470 people in 2006, which represents a 34% population increase since 1986 (an average 1.7% growth rate per annum).
- Although the population of the post-secondary school (20 – 24) age group decreased by 13 % between 1986 and 1991 (from 385 people in 1986 to 335 people in 1991), it subsequently increased to 430 people in 2006, which constitutes a 28% increase over this fifteen-year period.
- The population of the early career (25 to 44) age group profile increased from 1,370 people in 1986 to 1,710 people in 2006, which represents a 25% population increase since 1986 (an average 1.3% growth rate per annum).
- The population of the mid-career (45 to 54) age group profile increased from 405 people in 1986 to 850 people in 2006, which constitutes a 110% population increase over this twenty-year period (an average 5.5% growth rate per annum).
- The population of the pre-retirement (55 to 64) age group profile increased from 485 people in 1986 to 645 in 2006, which comprises a 33% growth rate over the twenty-year period.
- The post-retirement (65+) age group profile increased by 28 percent, or an average of 1.4% per annum, between 1986 and 2006 (from 910 people in 1986 to 1,165 people in 2006).

Morden experienced an 8% growth over the five years from 1996 - 2001 and a further 6.7% growth from 2001 to 2006.
