Morden Business Design Guidelines - ( 2.28MB PDF Document)

The purpose of these Design Guidelines is to provide a way in which change and future growth can be accommodated in the most appropriate way. This involves planned growth that works toward a common vision for Morden. The intent is to direcct new development, alterations to heritage sites, and changes of use in general rather than specific terms. These guidelines will guide developers, design professionals, property owners and other community members as they design their projects. Click on the link above to see all the information.

Business License Regulation

If you have a home based business in the Town of Morden, or you plan on conducting business within the Town of Morden but the business will not be located in a commercially assessed property, you must obtain a Business License at the Town of Morden Civic Office. The fees are as follows:

  • $35.00 per year for a hobby business, or a business conducted on a part time basis. (3 days per week).
  • $75.00 per year for a full time business (4 to 7 days per week)

If your business will be located outside the limits of the Town of Morden, but will be carrying on a business within the Town of Morden, please contact the Civic Centre for more information.

Tax Incentives: federal and provincial tax incentive information.

Corporate Income Tax: Effective January 1, 2007, the Manitoba government is cutting the General Corporate Income Tax Rate from 14.5% to 14%. This reduction will save Manitoba businesses $13 million annually.

Small Business Income Tax Rate: Effective January 1, 2007, the Manitoba government is cutting the Small Business Income Tax Rate from 4.5% to 3%. This reduction will save Manitoba businesses $12 million annually.

  • Apply for motive fuel tax, gasoline tax or tobacco tax licences,
  • File retail sales tax and payroll tax returns,
  • Pay retail sales, payroll, corporation captial, gasoline and motive fuel taxes through pre-authorized payment,
  • Update business and contact information,
  • Review their account details including the status of their accounts.
